The Sequence

It is a transformed image from the zodiac sign, dedicated to a good friend of mine. As well as a reminder from our beloved family. A development from the Metamorphosis sequence, you may find a previous painting in the other publications where anthropomorphic figures materialize. It’s more of saying a creative run in development, its vibrant colors, full recalling a story. Moreover, this referred to a good time in the past. Aspiring to go back, not at all. It is better to leave good memories than to see the end ruined. I am not running away from responsibilities, just enjoying life.
The Sequence symbolizes our encircled behaviors, stuck in our thoughts and unable to overcome, spending years in the same role. Controlling them is mastery. There is much to do daily, and our expectations are part of our motivation to get what we want.
Moreover, these forms share many traits from ancient times: rough, strong in dynamic, sensitive, and pure. Green is fertility; here, it leads to a calm ocean, where two figures follow each other and perhaps engage in love, ready to fulfill their mind and body together.
Love does not last, so I painted it rough to point at a reminder of our momentary beauty. In short, it is a transition test appointed to us to learn to use it, accept it, or live it and accept it as it is.

La Barca

La Barca beholds a unique interpretation- it stands for “calling the dead.” This concept of a departure in time, a way of saying goodbye to our beloved, sets the tone for our exploration. I invite you to search for clues on this subject. Using colors and composition in the painting is one way to draw you in. The vivid colors are attractive, but there is tension in the water. As the boat departs from above the center, two birds are gossiping in joy. These details form the core of this painting, which is not apparent at first, but once found, they provide a clear understanding of the narrative within.
Notice the green hue, reminiscent of the sky, in the painting. It is not a color we typically associate with the sea but an imaginary color that unifies the realistic forms. Follow the water towards the other side. With this purpose, I visualized a second from our mind while daydreaming. Isn’t it fascinating how the artist has used this unconventional color to create a unique atmosphere?
Perceiving what these two birds manifest at high sea is odd. Crows do not fly on high seas if trained by an owner. But La Barca soothes the moment her beauty is charming and insatiable. We want more, but only layers and colors are awaiting to drown.
I do not limit myself regarding subjectivity. The inspiration comes along with the environment I live in. Although it was dated twenty-four years ago, I love to look back and develop the same idea from different points of view. Sometimes, other ideas are spontaneous and take less time to develop. The first version of La Barca floated in the air, and I lost it renovating. It began cracking, and eventually, the image disappeared. La  Barca has just landed and is moving forward eternally.La Barca

After The Storm

“After The Storm” displays a close-up of calm blue water. It is a moment of peace and hope. Natural causes are irremediable, and with so much pollution, it is not surprising that disasters must occur. Storms can cause major damage, just like tsunamis and earthquakes.

The storm in 2012 caused much damage to homeowners in the New York area. We got lucky, and our home suffered minor repairs.

I blended shapes with fuzzy patterns, marking the end of turmoil. Moreover, the blue is softened with white, conveying the feeling of a past storm through movement. A couple of bubbles here and there balance the composition. This inspiration came from Okamoto Arts, which was exhibited at Perlow Gallery. The early years of my apprenticeship influenced my technique, and I blended them according to certain events that I felt confident about. New York is a cosmopolitan area where many artists ignite the imagination.  Or so I picked up that moment of the storm in my mind in a quiet, relaxed moment.
Assimilation and adaptation are two words that are different from imitating and copying them as they are. I grabbed the other contemporaries’ concepts, and the feeling transformed into my experience. In short, there is a voice in me that pulls me to interpret what I saw through this watercolor medium.
